LABOR OF LOVE
Someone I love is sick, and that is a helpless feeling. I grew up primarily in Asia, and so I decided to return to something I did as a child. I’m nearly halfway through folding one thousand origami paper cranes.
Senbazuru is part of Japanese folklore – it’s said that if you fold a thousand paper cranes, the gods will grant you a wish. Theoretically, one should complete this process in a year, but I have a much shorter runway for my wish-granting needs. I had a total of 49 days.
If you break that monumental task down, it amounts to a mere 21 origami cranes per day. It’s replaced my meditation – 11 cranes with my morning coffee, and another 10 before bed. It’s become a meditative time. Doing the same thing 1,000 times should mean that each crane is perfect. Not even close.

Robotic Process Automation, or RPA, is software that can be programmed to perform repetitive tasks. For too long, we associated “bots” with nefarious acts, but they’re as heroic as their programmers. Bots can assist and outperform in manner of things.

Not only does RPA ensure reductions in manual errors, and therefore improved data quality, but there are innumerable other pluses. From a compliance standpoint, your human workforce will require less contact with sensitive data, and your customers will be better protected from fraudsters.
Upgrading an entire system can be prohibitively costly. RPA projects, on the other hand, can be relatively low-cost and scalable. You likely cannot afford to press the pause button on your brand for weeks or months. RPA can be non-invasive and be built on top of legacy systems and can be delivered on a much more accelerated timeline.
